Privacy Engineering at Google

Pauline Anthonysamy

Staff Privacy Engineer

Privacy is fundamental to Android’s design and we’re continuing to invest in this across the platform and the Google Play ecosystem. In this session you will hear about how some of the Privacy features were engineered and came to its realisation. I will also provide an overview of the current state of Android from the perspective of app safety and privacy.

Pauline Anthonysamy is a Staff Privacy Engineer in Android. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from Security Lancaster, Lancaster University, UK. Her current work involves designing and developing new Android Privacy features. Previously she worked on building tools that helped developers boost the trust of their users, by surfacing signals in the Play Developer Console about how to improve their privacy posture.

Her wider interests include applications of natural language processing and machine learning to privacy, modelling user behaviour by leveraging large scale data to understand user privacy preferences and concerns.
